OGEECHEE RIVERKEEPER ANNOUNCES MAY PADDLE TRIP

SAVANNAH, GA – April 28, 2017- Ogeechee Riverkeeper is slated to hold its May paddle trip Saturday, May 27. This trip will begin at 9 a.m. at the George L. Smith State Park at 371 George L. Smith State Park Road, just outside Twin City, GA.

This paddle trip will allow the whole family to wander through an enchanting, submerged forest created by an impoundment of 15-mile Creek – a Canoochee tributary. This is one of Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s easiest paddles at a beginner difficulty level, so stand up paddlers and children are invited to join.

Luke Roberson, Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s outreach and water quality specialist, will lead this trip. Participants should bring lunch/snacks, water bottle(s), sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water shoes or old tennis shoes (flip-flops and sandals are not recommended), and a dry bag or way to store your personal items.

“It is rewarding to see paddlers enjoying the water that our organization works so hard to preserve, protect and improve,” said Roberson. “It never gets old leading these trips and witnessing the delight and awe that guests experience.”

Registration for non-members costs $35 per person while Ogeechee Riverkeeper members are invited to join these paddles at no cost. Ogeechee Riverkeeper memberships begin at the individual level of $35. To learn more or to become a member, please visit our website.

Registration for this guided paddle trip closes at 4 p.m. Friday, May 26. To register for this trip or for more information about Ogeechee Riverkeeper, please visit www.ogeecheeriverkeeper.org or call 866-942-6222.
